Joyful & Authentic Crafting Experience

Craft Your Own Unique Island Treasure with Our Artisan Family

Step into a world of creativity and heartfelt Balinese tradition with our Authentic Silver Making Class, nestled in the serene Taro Village – a beautiful setting truly “worth the travel time” from Ubud. We warmly invite you to join our artisan family for an unforgettable 2-hour crafting session where you’ll transform a generous  5 grams (approx.) of gleaming silver into your very own unique treasure.

This is so much more than just a class; it’s an “authentic cultural experience,” a chance to connect with the island’s rich artistic soul and create a beautiful, tangible memory. Imagine the gentle sounds of the traditional workshop, the satisfying feel of the silver in your hands as you become “completely involved with the process,” and the encouraging smiles of our local masters – it’s a feast for all senses and a truly “amazing experience!”

Unleash your inner artist as you learn the “old manual art” of Balinese silversmithing. Under the patient, “incredibly knowledgeable,” and passionate guidance of our skilled local artisans – often described by guests as “super friendly and funny” – you’ll discover the joy of bringing your own designs to life.

Whether you dream of crafting multiple simple rings, an elaborate snake ring, a “chunky” statement piece, or adding special engravings, our artisans are there to support you, ensuring “everyone felt comfortable and engaged.” You’ll “do most of the work yourself,” from melting and rolling the silver to shaping and designing, making the final piece truly yours. No prior experience is necessary; our workshop is a welcoming space for everyone.

Our instructors are celebrated for being “very helpful” and going “above and beyond” to ensure you leave with a finished product you’ll adore, even if it means a little extra help with polishing should the occasional Bali power outage occur! This commitment to your experience is why guests say our team “couldn’t help us more if they tried!”

This hands-on workshop is an invitation to slow down, engage your creativity, and connect with a tradition deeply woven into Balinese life. You’ll not only learn new skills but also gain a deeper appreciation for the artistry involved. The intimate class sizes allow for personalized attention, making your experience feel like a warm gathering.

You’ll leave with not just a stunning, “saleable quality” silver adornment, but with the glow of accomplishment and a heart full of beautiful memories.

Our team is also wonderfully accommodating, understanding the “unpredictable timings of Ubud traffic” and always aiming to provide a fantastic experience even if plans slightly change.

Itinerary

Arrive at our serene Taro Village workshop to a warm Balinese welcome and a refreshing drink. Meet your passionate artisan instructors, discuss your creative ideas (or find inspiration with us!), and sketch the unique design for your silver treasure(s).

Feel the ancient craft come alive as you become "completely involved," learning to melt, roll out, flatten, and lovingly shape your silver using traditional tools like hammers and rollers, all under expert yet supportive guidance.

Carefully cut out your design using fine saws, then refine its contours with files. This is where you add your personal design touches, perhaps even engraving. If your piece involves joining parts or adding embellishments, you'll learn basic soldering with close, expert support.

Experience the joyful magic of the final step: polishing your creation until it gleams with a beautiful, radiant shine. Admire your handcrafted silver jewelry – a unique memento of your creativity, "saleable quality," and your unforgettable Bali experience!

Frequently asked questions

Your joyful and creative silver crafting session will be approximately 2 hours long, though our artisans are "so generous with their time" and will ensure you complete your piece beautifully, even if it takes a little longer.

Absolutely not! Our class is lovingly designed for "everyone, whether you were a complete beginner or had some jewelry-making experience." Our patient Balinese artisans are "incredibly knowledgeable" teachers and will guide you "step by step," ensuring you feel empowered and create a piece (or pieces!) you adore.

The generous ~5 grams of silver is "more than enough" for a very nice piece. Guests have made "elaborate snake rings," "2 simple rings," or "really chunky rings." The amount allows for significant creativity. If your heart desires to create something exceptionally large or many additional pieces, more silver is available for purchase.

Our serene and authentic silver workshop is nestled in the beautiful Taro Village, which is a "good 30 minutes out of Ubud." However, as many guests share, "it is worth the travel time" for the "beautiful setting," the chance to get "out into the villages," and the "beautiful drive up." It's part of the authentic cultural experience!

Please wear comfortable clothing that you can relax and create in. For safety in our workshop, we warmly recommend closed-toe shoes. Feel free to bring any design ideas or inspirations (though we have plenty too!), your camera to capture your joyful process, your glasses if needed for close-up work, and cash (IDR) if you think you might like to purchase additional silver or opt for transport. There's also a cafe next door if you fancy a drink or snack.

We understand that Bali adventures can be unpredictable! Our event organizers are "so generous with their time" and "very accommodating." If you get dates mixed up or are running late due to Ubud traffic, please message us. We always try our best to ensure you have an amazing experience, just like guests who "missed our original booking... and they said we still could come."
